CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, CACarmel Owls Express Owl Platform Service

Building on the success of its early 2026 deployment of Great Horned Owl nesting platforms to enhance ecosystem health across the Monterey Peninsula, Carmel Owls today announces the launch of its Express Owl Platform Service — a homeowner-focused program that accelerates access to custom-built owl platforms for properties outside Carmel Owls’ deployment schedule or reach.

As first reported in Carmel Owls’ February 3, 2026 press release, the organization’s volunteer crew had strategically installed six owl platforms in key neighborhoods to encourage nesting pairs of Great Horned Owls — a natural predator that helps suppress rat and vermin populations without the use of rodenticides. That initiative ignited strong local interest, with community members eager to bring owl-based, toxin-free rodent control to their own properties.

The Express Owl Platform Service responds to that interest by offering a flexible option for homeowners who want a professionally crafted platform now, or whose tree locations cannot be accessed by Carmel Owls’ cherry picker team. With this service, Carmel Owls designs and builds each platform, then partners with a homeowner-selected local installer to complete the installation.

Express Owl Platform Service Highlights

  • Custom Design & Build: Carmel Owls volunteers will inspect the property, identify suitable trees, and craft a nesting platform designed for a Great Horned Owl.

  • Third-Party Installation Coordination: Homeowners work with a licensed local tree service for installation while Carmel Owls provides on-site support, specialized hardware, and a leveling template to ensure a flat, secure mount.

  • Flexible Access: Ideal for properties outside current deployment coverage or for homeowners who prefer not to wait for a scheduled Carmel Owls installation.

  • Support for Carmel Owls Volunteer Program: The Express Service includes a fee of $1,340 (installer cost separate), beginning with a non-refundable donation to support Carmel Owls’ ongoing efforts to promote toxin-free, ecological rodent management.

“After our February deployments showed such strong community engagement and ecological promise, we recognized the need to create a path for homeowners to act with urgency and purpose,” said Paul Falworth, Chief Owl Officer, volunteer coordinator of Carmel Owls. “The Express Service bridges that gap — advancing our volunteer mission while deepening local stewardship of nature-based solutions."

The Express Owl Platform Service is now available through the Carmel Owl's website, along with instructions on how to begin the process.
