We need your financial support
Carmel Owls is a volunteer organization based in Carmel-by-the-Sea. We volunteer our time to build the owl platforms, canvas local residents in the Monterey Peninsula for suitable trees, code our website, write newsletters, and post on social media (currently NextDoor, Facebook, and Instagram). We visit all potential sites to review the tree, meet and greet the homeowner, and ask for a signed liability waiver. Owl platform adoptees are offered platforms free of charge.
Donations fund all platform materials (redwood, screws, brackets, tree mounts, braces, cedar shingles), supplies (sandpaper, stain), safety equipment (traffic cones, fluorescent safety vests for volunteers, SLOW/STOP hand signs, LED strobe light bars for vehicles, magnetic vehicle signs for volunteer cars), outreach (web hosting, email newsletters, small flyers), and, of course, the cherry picker rental.

We offer three tiers of elevated support. To show our appreciation for the supporters at the Titanium, Platinum, and Gold levels, we will create a custom, engraved plaque on an owl platform to commemorate your generous donation.

An owl platform with apportioned installation runs $285 each. $2,000 allows Carmel Owls to build seven owl platforms and deploy a rented cherry picker for the day to complete the installation of these platforms.
Carmel Owls' annual budget is approximately $5,000, which supports two deployments (typically spring and fall) for a total of 12 - 14 platforms, annual web hosting, video software subscriptions & eTools as detailed on our Tech Stack page.
By mid 2026, with increased financial support from individuals and foundation grants, Carmel Owls is scheduled to deploy 31 platforms over five days spaced throughout the year.
