Build Your Own Owl Platform

It's easy. It's fun. And it's very rewarding.

Platform Atop a Topped Tree

If the top of your topped pine or redwood tree is at least 20 ft high, it's quite straightforward to screw in an owl platform. Check out the schematic and photos to build this 2 foot square platform affixed with 4 lag screws.

Cost is about $80 in materials and 4-6 hours of labor. Weight about 25 lbs.

If you prefer, Carmel Owls can build your 'topped tree' platform for $300.

Platform Against a Trunk

If your pine or redwood tree is near the street of your home or close to your driveway on level ground, a owl platform mounted against the trunk is possible as well.

The schematic with photos shows how you can affix one half of a metal TV mount to your tree with 4 lag screws and the other half to a strengthened and supported platform with the other half of the TV mount.

Cost is about $140 in materials and 5 - 7 hours of labor. Weight about 25 lbs.

If you prefer, Carmel Owls can build your 'vertical trunk' platform for $360.
